[jira] Created: (HARMONY-2975) [drlvm][em64t] Eclipse does not start

[drlvm][em64t] Eclipse does not start
-------------------------------------

                 Key: HARMONY-2975
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HARMONY-2975
             Project: Harmony
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: App-Oriented Bug Reports, DRLVM
         Environment: Linux@x64
            Reporter: Alexey Varlamov
            Priority: Critical

The DRLVM fails to start Eclipse 3.1 and 3.2 on Linux@x64. Both release and debug builds segfault, debug build gives the following diagnostics:

working_vm/build/lnx_em64t_gcc_debug/deploy/jdk/jre/bin/java -jar startup.jar vf_debug: verifying class org/eclipse/ui/plugin/AbstractUIPlugin (method createImageRegistry()Lorg/eclipse/jface/resource/ImageRegistry;) couldn't load class "org/eclipse/swt/SWTError"vf_debug: VerifyError: org/eclipse/swt/SWTError
java: /nfs/ins/proj/drl/coreapi/avarlamo/harmony/linux.x64/svn-repo/trunk/working_vm/vm/vmcore/src/jit/ini.cpp:37: void vm_execute_java_method_array(_jmethodID*, jvalue*, jvalue*): Assertion `!exn_raised()' failed.
Fatal error
Segmentation fault

[jira] Updated: (HARMONY-2975) [drlvm][em64t] Eclipse does not start

Posted by "Pavel Pervov (JIRA)" <ji...@apache.org>.

Pavel Pervov updated HARMONY-2975:
----------------------------------

    Attachment: eclipse_em64t_startup.patch

This patch is to fix eclipse startup issue on em64t - which is more generally called x86_64. :)

I will create separate JIRA for assertion in class initialization.

I've also faced this failure.

It looks the same in all jit-modes and interpreter.

[jira] Commented: (HARMONY-2975) [drlvm][em64t] Eclipse does not start

Posted by "Pavel Rebriy (JIRA)" <ji...@apache.org>.

Pavel Rebriy commented on HARMONY-2975:
---------------------------------------

The problem is in Eclipse bundle manager initialization. Eclipse initializes BundleClassLoader for os.arch value. On em64t os.arch value is em64t, Eclipse expects x86_64.
