Xalan and Xerces backwards compatibility?

Hello,

In the first version of our product we've used both xalan 1.1.2 and xerces 
1.2 DO1.  We're wondering as we release new versions of our product, how we 
should approach updating xerces and xalan and how backwards compatible 
newer versions will be.  For example how smooth would it be to start 
transitioning to Xalan 2.0 ( when it leaves beta ) and Xerces 1.2.3 or 
2.0alpha?   We will obviously need to update our Java code that actually 
loads and uses Xalan to use the TRaX interface etc...

Sorry for the garbled mix of questions!  Let me know if I need to 
clarify.  Excellent work on Xalan and Xerces by the way.
