questions regarding Axis

I have some general questions regarding Axis:

1.  It looks like the client calling mechanism has changed significantly
from version 2.1.  Is this correct?  Will we have to scrap all of our
current code and write to the Axis API now?

2.  Does Axis incorporate any kind of encryption or security?

3.  When will Axis be generally available to the public?
