   Hi @aditya-subrahmanyan, yes I'd like to give this another try!
   
   My previous attempt https://github.com/apache/iceberg-rust/pull/1496 lost momentum when I tried to get feedback from the broader community about proceeding with Otel vs. the spec's metrics API. For now I think we should prioritize the existing metrics API.
   
   There's been some changes to the code base, so parts of my design will need to be adapted. But I'm ready to pick up work on it again :)
