Tapestry 5 & JBoss 6 - Silently Fails
I am brand new to Tapestry 5.
Standalone tomcat works great, but when I try to deploy it into production
to JBoss 6, the Tapestry filter never gets invoked.
There are no errors whatsoever.
This is all I get when I turn on debug logs:

Yes indeed I deploy in the war format.
Thanks. I decided to go with glassfish though anyway.

Are you deploying your app in exploded format or war ?
I've found that the workaround in the wiki only works when i deploy my app
in exploded format.

Object virtualFile = invokerGetter(connection, "getContent");
Object zipEntryHandler = invokerGetter(virtualFile, "getHandler");
URL realUrl = (URL)invokerGetter(zipEntryHandler, "getRealURL");
if (realUrl.toString().indexOf(".war") !=-1 &&

URL jarRealUrl = (URL)invokerGetter(zipEntryContext,

realUrl = new URL(jarRealUrl.toExternalForm() + localPath);
}
log.trace("Converted - " + url + " - to - " + realUrl);
return realUrl;
}
My jars are in WEB-INF/lib. Oddly enough EAP 5.0.x is supposed to match
jboss 5.1, yet somehow 5.0.0 and 5.0.1 are different. Maybe it depends on
what version of jboss 5.1 a particular person has.
There oughta be a module for this... I know the main reason for all this
reflection is not wanting a ton of jboss dependencies in my pom.

Actually, I tried glassfish and it works great, and it's integrated,
no need to mess with integration etc. I think I will use that.
About your nabble.com article, it says it doesn't work with jboss 5.1+
and I tried it on 5.1 and 6.0, and it doesn't work.
I don't want to fight with it
Thanks!.

Have you ever tried OpenEJB in Tomcat or Jetty? If I needed or wanted to
write an EJB 3 application, I'd definitely try the OpenEJB + Jetty route.

I have used Jetty, Tomcat and Glassfish without any problems. Well
without any Tapestry related problems. I haven't ever had a need to
use JBoss.
I think you might be able to get it to work, but you might have to
learn a whole lot more about how JBoss operates behind the scenes to
get it to work correctly. I'd recommend switching (or at least
trying) on of the other options.
Jetty is particularly attractive because that is what most people are
developing with. So if there is a problem, it is likely to show up
quickly.

I actually have been looking for an excuse to switch from jboss to

I looked at the archives, it looks like JBoss 5.0.1 is the latest JBoss Tapestry works on.
I am running JBoss 5.1, with dependencies in .../server/<config>/lib instead of WEB-INF/lib directory.
Planning to upgrade to JBoss 6 or (I hope that I don't have to) Glassish
Does anyone have a confirmed working configuration for this?
I know about the -Dvfszip and the AppModule injection fix,
but don't want to futz with this if it's known not to work.

I'm afraid I haven't tried with JBoss 6; Tapestry can be sensitive to
class loader issues when starting up (when it locates existing
Tapestry pages and components).
