The issue might be simiilar to http://pear.php.net/bugs/bug.php?id=5452

Does that mean that the fix is to change

    public void finish()
        throws IOException
    {
        this.writeEOFRecord();
    }

into

    public void finish()
        throws IOException

        this.writeEOFRecord();
    }

??

Then as in the PHP Pear issue above, care must be taken if there are other parts of the archiver that expects a single empty block.
