Microsoft JDBC driver SP1 for MS SQL Server 2000 - Opinions ?
Hi all. I know there are some MSSQLServer users out there, and was wondering why there is still a plethora of commercial/expensive JDBC drivers when there is the free MS driver. If course I am a naive person, but what is actually wrong with the MS version (possibly in relation to OJB) that should make me consider one of the 3th party versions ?
Recently the Service Pack 1 version has been released:
"Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC - Service Pack 1
The Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2000 Driver for JDBC™ is a Type 4 JDBC driver that provides highly scalable and reliable connectivity for the enterprise Java environment. This driver provides JDBC access to SQL Server 2000 through any Java-enabled applet, application, or application server."
Does anyone have an educated opinion about the current crop of JDBC drivers, including the Microsoft SP1 Type 4 driver ? Because even Bea Weblogic recommends to download the MS driver instead of their own Weblogic jDriver, which has now been deprecated.
Any takers ?
Cheers,
Theo Niemeijer

Posted by Thomas Quaile <to...@yahoo.com>.
I've been using the Microsoft JDBC driver for the past
few months and the only issue that I have had is that
it does not support CLOB or BLOB objects.
Other than that, it has worked very well.
