   I think it's ok to switch to log4j-2.x in 1.20. 
   
   Even though there are (potentially) some actions to take on the upgrade, I don't think it's the same as breaking the APIs (which would require a version 2.x for Pulsar). Speaking of which we already just broke the API in 1.20, by switching to `org.apache.pulsar` package names.
   
   In this case, no code changes or anything else is needed, just configuration change if you have custom rules.
   
   We just should document that in the release notes: "if you have custom logging configuration, you should update your log4j conf files". Maybe we could even create an entry in the Wiki to which we can refer from the release notes.
