Whenever I try to open a PHP file using Apache 2.2.11 running on Windows XP, it
shows the contents of the file, not the actual page.

This is neither a user support forum nor the php bugzilla. Please ask on
users@httpd.apache.org first or open a bug against php. In any case you need to
provide more details like configuration and error logs.
