### Describe the enhancement requested
Hello,
As part of the development efforts for [Sparrow](https://github.com/man-group/sparrow), we aim to utilize Archery to ensure our library functions correctly. Currently, Archery supports running several "official" implementations.
To enhance flexibility and usability, I am preparing a pull request that introduces an option allowing users to specify the path to their own library. This feature will enable users to test their custom implementations seamlessly within the Archery framework.

I still think that it would be useful, like I need to have a series of patches to enable testing a non-official arrow implementation https://github.com/kszucs/marrow/tree/main/integration

Agree, though I am not sure which part of archery you are referring to. I can imagine both the integration testing and the various build setups using docker and library specific test scripts.
