mod_throttle & mod_backhand

is there a way to detect the current status of these modules from mod_perl
Apache::  ?

I my scripts i would like to know if i am beating the machines up as i go
... for instance in a thumbnail gallery i might not expose so many
pictures or with audio/streams i might not have the intense graphics
version clickable.
