multiple providers per deployment
Is it possible or is there a plan for a deployment descriptor file
to contain multiple provider descriptions?

Its not possible right now. However, this is a useful enhancement.
I would actually like to revisit the deployment descriptor language
after we make decisions on scopes - we need to figure out a way to
do scopes in a transport independent way so that a deployment
infrastructure for another transport can be built using this code.
