   Hi,
   CouchDB was installed to the default path C:\CouchDB & There was no previous installation.
   
   I have managed to resolve the problem so this request can be closed.
   
   I uninstalled MySQL Server (v5.6) & related tools (workbench, etc) on the same machine and that did the trick.
   
   The reason I suspected MySQL as a potential conflict is that soon after CouchDB installation, the MySQL Service would report errors sporadically.
