Software Grant Agreement... IP Clearance

Mentors

The SGA has been sent in. What do we need to do for this to be
recorded/accounted for in the incubator status for NiFi?

I'd like to make sure as soon as Git is available we've done what we
can/should to be able to put the code up.

Thanks
Joe

I also sent a separate note to the secretary today, and got an initial
response asking for more information. So, I think he's looking into it.

I sent the sec. an email asking about an SGA, since I understand Joe
to have told us that an SGA, not just a CCLA, was submitted.

Sorry for the terse nature of the response. Just wanted to be precise
about the SGA/CCLA in case it helps in describing to the secretary. I had
many months to rehearse and prepare for this part of the process so was
hoping it would be the smoothest of all ;-)

thanks
Joe

I should also note that the SGA and CCLA were faxed together. I have

Got it, thanks for the clarification. In that case the best thing to do is
wait for the Sec to respond with details.

I am confident that the SGA has been faxed twice. And I believe today they
sent it again or checked for confirmation.

Apologies for the delayed response, just catching up with today's emails.

What I was referring to were three notifications for CCLA submissions that
were done specifically for NiFi. It is my understanding that CCLAs can be
(optionally) used in place of an SGA and hence I believe that the necessary
legal work has been done to enable the code grant. I will follow-up with
the Secretary to be sure that this is indeed the case.

Billie,

I'll take that as least a -0 and go ahead and hold off on dropping in SVN
for now. Putting the code 'out there' just feels like the last piece of
truly starting this new journey. Very much looking forward to it but will
hold off for Git to be ready then.

Thanks
Joe

I believe only the svn site currently has write access enabled. I think any
mentor could change that, then change it back once we were done using svn.
Personally I'd be inclined to just wait for git.

If you're going to put it up in svn, I'd recommend doing so only to
an svn tag. That should make clear that the intention is not for any
changes to happen in svn.

Waiting to apply contributions will cause less headache than attempting to
transition the history from svn to git afterwards.

My view is that you can upload it to svn today; the even if the grant
isn't recorded, that's a problem for releasing, not for committing.
You might want to count to 100 and see if any of my fellow mentors
disagree.

As soon as Git is setup and we have commit privileges am i clear to upload
the source?

Also, could I upload it to the current SVN repo just as a sort of 'as
contributed' form? We will immediately move to Git once available. Just
want to get the code up.

Thanks

I haven't been able to find an email from Craig acknowledging an SGA in the
archives. The only ones I see are CCLA and ICLA notices. However, Arvind
said he saw one, and the secretary said one was sent, so ... not sure
what's going on. Arvind may have seen the message entitled "ICLA for NIFI"
from Nov 21 which was an individual CLA. Perhaps the secretary was
referring to an ICLA or CCLA acknowledgement that was sent, or perhaps I
just am not seeing the right message.

I found the software grants log file (/foundation/officers/grants.txt) and
it appears that the NiFi SGA has not been logged yet. I think when that's
done, any mentor can check it off in the nifi.xml status file.
