This is a different server from the one in bug 5413, right?  That one had 4GB of
memory and was using 120 children.

Was this server spawning 140 children sucessfully, without the memory
consumption you're seeing now, before the change in bug 5413?

Just for kicks, have you tried running with -m 80 (based on your 4GB server with
120 children, you can probably safely run around 80-90 children with 3GB of memory)?
