Storing a criteria object

Hello,
I posted a question few days ago, but I guess those who know the answer did 
not see it, so I will try my luck again and put it in other words:
I am trying to store a Criteria object in the database to use it later ,
I tried to serialize it to the db but I end up with a distorted one.

does anybody knows of a handy technique to store a criteria object( a user 
is searching for something and I would like to store his search criteria to 
try to look for it later )
