No Variable Substitution for non String Properties

Summary: No Variable Substitution for non String Properties
           Product: JMeter
           Version: Nightly (Please specify date)
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: Other
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Major
          Priority: Other
         Component: Main
        AssignedTo: jmeter-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: alex@finix.de

It seems to be impossible to parameterize non String Properties of TestElements
with user-defined variables.

e.g. It is possible to parameterize the target host with ${host}, but the same
pattern does not work, with ${port} in HTTPSamples.
