'develop' branch gets an overhaul...

Heads-up,
I am bring all the stuff I worked on since December back to 'develop', as
it now builds, except a new Query test suite which sets up an multi-layered
environment to do testing in. I will disable those tests for now, until I
worked out the new Query structure.

After that, I will also take a look at other branches that are hanging
around, and see if that should be brought back to 'develop' as well.
