Hi Nayana,

If you're interesting in trying the course-in-progress and giving me some feedback, I'd be happy to give you access. Email me directly.

After several confused attempts to get my head around Maven, I was
confused, p.o.'ed, and wondering why folks were so sold on this.

Then I stumbled up on *Maven By Example* from Sonatype (
http://www.sonatype.com/resources/books/maven-by-example). It's free,
either as a PDF or online. I deleted my old ~/.m2 directory, and started
from the beginning, spending a full day working through the examples. Now I
wonder why I clung to Ant for so long.

Re: First Steps with Maven

Posted by Eric Kolotyluk <er...@gmail.com>.
I tried to learn Maven from http://maven.apache.org/guides/ and ended up
in a world full of pain and suffering for many months.

If you are really serious about maven I recommend actual training. I
took 3 days of Sonatype training about 8 months after I started using
Maven. I deeply regret I did not take the training first.

3 days is a lot of investment. More recently I have been reviewing
Russel Gold's videos, and these are by far the best introduction to
Maven I have ever seen. If you are really serious about Maven I would
suggest:

 1. Watching Russel's videos. I am not sure what other training he has
    lined up.
 2. Read the Sonatype documentation
    http://books.sonatype.com/mvnref-book/reference/
 3. Then try reading http://maven.apache.org/guides/
 4. If you are getting really serious, take the Sonatype training
courses, or other courses. If you are a Software Architect dealing
with Maven, these courses should be mandatory.

Maven is serious power tools, almost indistinguishable from magic.
Before attempting to understand Maven, get some serious help.

Cheers, Eric

Re: First Steps with Maven

I think the offical document of maven is a good start:

http://maven.apache.org/guides/

It has quick start and has all the detail infomation of maven.

I know a gook book for beginner but the book is in Chinese and the author
of the book is Chinese too. So I don't think it has a version of other
language though I think it a really gook book for beginner.
