[users@httpd] close_wait

Hi,

Knows anybody the solution for "close_wait" problem? I cannot find any real
advise in Internet.
There are many peoples who has this probem but I cannot find any answer for
my case.

Sometimes has Apache too many (about 150) internet connections in
"close_wait"
state and cannot accept any new connection more. Apache restart helps. I
cannot
reproduce the Problem any time I wish.

System:
-------
SunOS s96sp0w1 5.7 Generic_106541-16 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-80
Apache/1.3.26 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.8.10 OpenSSL/0.9.6c

tcp_time_wait_interval 60000
tcp_keepalive_interval 7200000

...
Timeout 300
KeepAlive Off
MaxKeepAliveRequests 100
KeepAliveTimeout 15
MinSpareServers 5
MaxSpareServers 20
StartServers 15
MaxClients 150
MaxRequestsPerChild 500
...

Re: [users@httpd] close_wait

Posted by Serguei Petrovski <Se...@to.com>.
I have "close_wait" interval 60 sec, but my connections are more than 1 hour
live. :)

"tcp_conn_hash_size" is 256 by default and I have never more then 200
connections.

The first questions: is it Apache bug or mistake in configuration?

This would only be solvable at the is level by decreasing the
close_wait interval with ndd:
