AXIS Lessons Learned

I didn't see anything in the archives, so I thought I would take a moment
to share my pain, that others may benefit from it.

Documentation to the contrary not withstanding, to pass options to a
handler, use the <PARAMETER> element, not the <OPTION> element.

The following WSDD snippet results in an empty options Hashtable:

<handler name="auth" type="java:my.custom.Handler">
     <option name="driver" value="my.jdbc.Driver"/>
     <option name="url" value="jdbc:my:dsn"/>
</handler>

This results in the options Hashtable being properly populated:

<handler name="auth" type="java:my.custom.Handler">
     <parameter name="driver" value="my.jdbc.Driver"/>
     <parameter name="url" value="jdbc:my:dsn"/>
</handler>
