> org.apache.commons.lang.StringEscapeUtils.unescapeHtml is useful in detecting and correcting Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attempts by converting escaped chars like &# 60; or & lt; (remove spaces) into normal chars like < so patterns like HTML tags can be detected.
