Summary: SMTPAppender should allow dynamic subjects
           Product: Log4j
           Version: 1.2
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: other
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Appender
        AssignedTo: log4j-dev@logging.apache.org
        ReportedBy: ravn@unixsnedkeren.dk

The SMTPAppender is very nice for the purpose of getting notified of severe
problems. It would be nice if the various options for the SMTPAppender -
especially the subject field - could contain information from the logged events.

Notably it would be very relevant for me to have the triggering exception name
and message in the subject field.

My initial thought was to provide %'s in the same way that LayoutPattern does,
abeit with a differnet meaning.
