[jira] [Closed] (LEGAL-189) solicitation to sell Apache user/mailing lists

Henri Yandell closed LEGAL-189.
-------------------------------
    Resolution: Unresolved

I get the same (for Apache and for other entities). I've not heard of any action taken and I'd imagine it would have been public if done. Given the privacy policy (http://www.apache.org/foundation/policies/privacy.html) indicates that everything you contribute intentionally is public, this latest form of spam doesn't seem like a huge surprise.

> I just received in my inbox an offer to sell databases of various Apache User emails:
> "The specific Apache User lists are Apache ActiveMQ, Apache Ant, Apache Axis2, Apache Camel, Apache Cassandra, Apache CloudStack, Apache CXF, Apache Hadoop, Apache Hive, Apache HTTP Server, Apache JMeter, Apache log4j, Apache Lucene, Apache MapReduce, Apache Maven, Apache Pig, Apache Servers, Apache Solr, Apache Sqoop, Apache Struts, Apache Subversion, Apache Tomcat, Apache Velocity, Apache Zookeeper."
> Perhaps they are just harvested by joining the lists, but it certainly rubs me the wrong way - does the ASF take legal again against companies trying to sell these lists?
