There is the {{DataConfiguration}} class (in the main package) which offers get methods for additional data types. It can be used as a wrapper for an existing configuration to get a richer API. Could this class solve your use case?

I am not against your change, but having the _getURL()_ method at multiple places seems a bit strange.
