Skip bad records

Hi
Looks like Hbase does not support the skip of bad records from MR. I've seen that HBASE-1239 was invalidated and there is not much talk around it. 
In hour case that would have been a useful feature right now, are there any alternatives to this or do we need to build ourselves some mechanism to skip records?
