Making a reader cacheble?

Hello cocoon experts,

what are the differences between making a reader or another sitemap
component like transformer aso. cacheable? I've seen that both type of
components implementing the CacheableProcessingComponent interface. For what
is the method getLastModified on a reader necessary?
