For getting 2.12.0 to be released, Michael Glavassevich called for a volunteer to update the Xerces website documentation:

I have taken a first pass by reading through the issues marked as fixed in 2.12.0 and compiling a corresponding patch to the web site.  Of course, these changes should not go live until the release is created.

Changes:
1) Update references to 2.11.0 to 2.12.0
2) Update references to Sun's JDK to Oracle's JDK.
3) Clarify the difference between the main package and the Beta XML 1.1 Schema package.
4) Note that the samples require Java 3, as Xerces2 does not claim to support Java 1 or Java 2.
5) Compile a more readable summary of the changes than the auto-generated JIRA release notes.
