How can I specify the location of my log4j logfiles

In my log4j.xml file I have specified the filenames but not the full path.
The reason is because I develop on Windows and deploy to Linux.  It seems
log4j puts my log files in the directory I'm in when I start tomcat.  Is
there a way to specify where they go without hardcoding them in the
log4j.xml?
