One set of dates which will be pertinent to the subsequent release of
bigtop will be the next LTS release from Ubuntu at the end of April
2012 - see [0] for full details.

I will start looking at building on this release now alongside the
planned support for Lucid in 0.2.1.

+1

We have thrift packages for 0.6.0. A matter of integration.

Also, we might be able to add openSUSE 12.1 time allowing.

Hmm. I think we should probably bite the bullet and add
downloading/building Thrift 0.6.0 to the Flume build so we can move to
0.9.4. The best case would still be to have packages, but we can live with
downloading the Thrift source and make install'ing it into a temp prefix, I
think.

Other than that, I'm +1, but I would like to see that.
