[jira] [Resolved] (SPARK-12676) There is no way to stop a spark-streaming job from a worker in case of errors.

Sean Owen resolved SPARK-12676.
-------------------------------
    Resolution: Not A Problem

Your driver app will already fail -- if you make it fail when you want it to fail. It sounds like you are not failing your app when you're unable to write output in one batch, but you want to. You should change your app to behave this way.

I don't think a general "switch" is possible since the decision about what's recoverable or not is up to the app, and it communicates with the environment by stopping or not (exception etc)

> Consider and application that reads data from an external source and writes it to HDFS. If for some reason the namenode crashes the job keeps reading data from that source but does throws errors upon writing to HDFS which eventually leads to data loss. It would be desirable to supply some switch to the workers which would kill the job which could trigger some alert to the admin of the system and the job can be restarted when problem with the name node is fixed.
