Per our discussion during the post-mortem, please ensure that backups of everything that is important for us to restore a working service take place. 

This doesn't have to explicitly be 'backups' it could also be configs checked into SVN in some cases. 

Preferably this will be done in conjunction with INFRA-7647, and we could actually verify that we can rebuild the service from the run book and restore data from backups.
