Losing session data at login

Fellow Turbinauts,

I'm running Turbine 2.2 on an ecommerce site and have observed that when 
a non-logged-in user logs in, the Attributes saved in their session go 
away. The session ID is the same but all the Attributes are gone.

Since I need to keep a shopping cart in the session and merge the anon 
users cart with the logged in users cart, this is not a happy situation.

Does anyone know what's up with this?
How can I preserve Attributes upon login?
