[~vjasani] I'd say if you want to give this a chance of getting it, it needs to be ready and stable by the end of the month. We stabilize 2.5.0RC0 next month. Documentation can be added as part of 2.5.0RC0. We'd also need an upgrade plan and path from 1.7.1 and 2.4.x.
Seems like a tall order but if you're willing/able to try it, sure, we can try it.
Otherwise it could be future justification for a 2.6.0...
