While working on an unrelated issue, I found myself reading through FunctionQParser.

I had some trouble figuring out what the expected behavior was for the overloaded parse() methods.  They were missing Javadocs, and I couldn't find any unit tests to clarify their behavior.

I'd like to write the unit tests, so I authored this JIRA to cover them.
