Re: About speakers presentations - useful info

Questions:

- What is the screen ratio of the projectors? 4:3 or 16:9?

- What adapters will projectors have on them? HDMI, VGA, something else?

- Besides keynotes, will any speakers be required to use custom formats
or turn slides in ahead of time for projection from a conference system?
(Most session speakers will present from their own laptop)

Helpful information for speakers:

* LF - our producer - appreciates it when you send them your final
slides for them to put on the website(s):

http://events.linuxfoundation.org/events/apache-big-data-europe/program/slides
  http://events.linuxfoundation.org/events/apachecon-europe/program/slides

These pages are auto-generated when you upload slides to the LF site's
CFP system where you proposed your talks (reminder: the CFP system *is*
being used, even though the accept|reject status is not being updated).

* Many Apache types also like to use slideshare:

  http://www.slideshare.net/search/slideshow?q=apache

* The Community Development project has help for speakers:

  https://community.apache.org/speakers/

* Remember that LF uses sched.org for the detail schedule (useful if you
sign up and claim your talk there)

To be clear, come ASK me. Don't come as me. That would be, like, a
Halloween costume or something.

Also... on the projector front, I've had 2 laptops that fail to work
reliably on projectors even though they work fine on monitors, if you're
presenting my advice is show up in the room you're in during a break or
early doors and do a quick check. Also its unlikely all the projects will
be the same make and model in the presentation rooms, so just cause it
works in one doesn't mean it works in another!

Answers from Jillian:

- What is the screen ratio of the projectors? 4:3 or 16:9?

	- The keynote slides should be 16:9 and the breakout slides/projectors
are 4:3

- What adapters will projectors have on them? HDMI, VGA, something else?

	- I am verifying this with the AV providers

(I'd add that you should assume that projectors are HDMI and/or VGA,
and bring your own adapters. I always carry adapters, though, so come as
me. --Rich)

- Besides keynotes, will any speakers be required to use custom formats
or turn slides in ahead of time for projection from a conference system?
(Most session speakers will present from their own laptop)

	 - Besides keynotes, everyone will present from their own computers and
are not required to use a template

Hi Shane,

Thanks a lot for the information!. How can we claim the talks at sched.org?.
I have seen that for Apache BigData there is already speakers info, but not
for ApacheCon

Thanks!
Rafa
