Multiple Inconsistencies in HBase

I have a multi-node HBase (1.1.2) setup with multiple tables and each table
has multiple regions. I have started getting lots of inconsistencies on
running hbck command since few days.

I have tried running hbck command with -repair, -fixAssignments, -fixMeta
and -fixHdfsHoles options separately multiple times but every time the
command timeout.

I have also tried to run "assign <region_name>" command on hbase shell but
it didn't help. The data is important for me and I don't have any backup of
this data.

Does anybody know, how can this be fixed?

Hi Ted,

I had already used -repair option even before posting this query. What third
party site and post links are you referring to?

Why should we not use -repair option?

Thanks,
Nitin Goswami

Nitin:
Error log and command output didn't go through.

Consider using third party site and post links.

In my previous response, I was suggesting not to use -repair option.

Nitin:
Normally you should not run hbck with '-repair' which include many options.

Depending on the actual inconsistencies, issue specific -fix options to fix
them.

Please provide more information as Michal suggested.

Hello,

can you paste the whole error log? Maybe I can share some experience with
you.

Anyway, before sending anything, ensure that all your regionservers are
running and your hdfs fsck is ok.
