Summary: webservice request sampler adding xmlns:xmlns
Product: JMeter
Version: 2.1.1
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: HTTP
AssignedTo: jmeter-dev@jakarta.apache.org
ReportedBy: tsuh@fgm.com
When using WebService(SOAP)Request sampler, my xml envelope looks like this
(either thru specifying a file or entering directly into the SOAP/xml-rpc data
field):
<soap-env:Envelope xmlns=""
xmlns:soap-env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
once Envelope.unmarshall is performed and the message is sent out, this envelope
has changed to
<soap-env:Envelope xmlns:soap-env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
xmlns:xmlns="">
Of course, the spec says xmlns:xmlns is not allowed. So why is this xmlns:xmlns
being added ?

it appears Axis is adding that extra stuff. I don't know why off hand, but other
java Webservice toolkits do also add xmlns stuff. I know apache XMLBeans
contributed by BEA does that.

The problem is that when xmlns:xmlns is added, the following error occurs
"org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: The prefix "xmlns" cannot be bound to any
namespace explicitly; neither can the namespace for "xmlns" be bound to any
prefix explicitly."
