Fw: [uddi-technical] Publish connection in Java

Hi Guys,

Is JSSE not a valid implementation of SSL?? If not what can we use
for SSL?

(Don't we use JSSE for the client-side SSL support?)

Sanjiva.

Re: Fw: [uddi-technical] Publish connection in Java

Posted by George I Matkovits <ma...@uswest.net>.
IMHO this is the continuation of the Java war (settled for a pittance of $20M?).
JSSE supposed to be a 'correct' implementation of the SSL protocol as defined
originally by Netscape. IMHO JSSE should work against IIS (I have not myself
tested it yet!) SSL needs 'strict' compliance with the used 'encryption' methods.
IE5.0 seems to work against Apache with mod_ssl which is using Open SSL (tested
with IE5.0 from Win2000 Advanced Server to Linux RH6.2). It also works with an SSL
Soap client from Win2k to Apache on Linux. IMHO this is a 'sufficient' proof that
IE5.0 and a SSL Java Soap client are compatible. There can be lots of other
'slight' problems with a Java client and MS Soap Server interop over SSL. Open
SSL is the defacto universal standard and NOT MS SOAP's SSL implementation. Sorry
MS but the Internet runs on OpenSSL (EBay, IMHO, on Apache) and NOT IIS.

Regards - George (I work in a mixed Windows/Unix environment but just now I do
not have the time to run interop tests, may be in a few months :-). My original
Windows/Java SSL interop tests (about 6 months ago) used URL connections and not
the current Apache Soap's SSL over sockets.

RE: [uddi-technical] Publish connection in Java

Posted by graham glass <gr...@mindspring.com>.
i'm using JSSE for SSL, and it works fine.

i access the MS and IBM UDDI publish APIs, which
are exposed using HTTPS, using JSSE with no problems.

cheers,
graham
