[DISCUSS] Planning for 0.9.1 Release
All -
I believe that we need to start collecting and/or filing the JIRAs that we
need for a 0.9.1 release. There were a handful of things in 0.9.0 that we
were aware of at release time that need to have quick follow up fixes.
Currently, we have the following three JIRAs:
1. [image: Bug] KNOX-712
submitPig does not allow multiple argument via arg()
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KNOX-712>
2. [image: Bug] KNOX-711
Global Rewrite Rules for a Topology are Problematic
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KNOX-711>
3. [image: Bug] KNOX-705
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KNOX-705>Views in Ambari UI don't
render when proxied by the AMBARIUI service
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KNOX-705>
I have a couple things in mind to file for the KnoxSSO default IDP form and
will file those shortly.
My feeling is that 0.9.1 should be a bug fix release and scoped as tightly
as possible.
New features should target 0.10.0.
I'd like to volunteer as release manager for 0.9.1 and propose a target
release date of 6/10th.
Thoughts?

All -
Just an FYI - I committed the final outstanding patch last night for the
0.9.1 release and am in the process of building the first rc for testing.
I will send an email announcing its availability for testing and a VOTE
once it is staged and ready to go.
thanks,

Re: [DISCUSS] Planning for 0.9.1 Release
Posted by larry mccay <la...@gmail.com>.
All -
As we are closing done on 11 or so days to our target release, I thought it
would be good to provide a status.
We have addressed a few JIRAs that have been targeted for 0.9.1 and still
have a handful to tackle.
KNOX-711 has a patch available for review and I will be taking some time to
review and test it. This is a fundamental change to how rewrite fuels are
applied to services and therefore does require review in order to be
committed.
At the moment, we have the following open JIRAs:
1. [image: Bug] KNOX-705
Views in Ambari UI don't render when proxied by the AMBARIUI service
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KNOX-705>
2. [image: Bug] KNOX-711
Global Rewrite Rules for a Topology are Problematic
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KNOX-711>
3. [image: Bug] KNOX-714
Remove Permissive MIT License from NOTICE File
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KNOX-714>
4. [image: Bug] KNOX-715
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KNOX-715>submitJava should allow
multiple argument via arg()
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KNOX-715>
I am in the process of reviewing and testing KNOX-715 and hope to commit it
today or early this week.
KNOX-714 is a no brainer to just clean up the NOTICE file.
Also at this point, we have the following list as the total bug fixes for
0.9.1:
1. [image: Bug] KNOX-705
Views in Ambari UI don't render when proxied by the AMBARIUI service
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KNOX-705>
2. [image: Bug] KNOX-711
Global Rewrite Rules for a Topology are Problematic
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KNOX-711>
3. [image: Bug] KNOX-712
submitPig does not allow multiple argument via arg()
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KNOX-712>
4. [image: Bug] KNOX-713
Knox Shell HDFS.get.Request is Package Private
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KNOX-713>
5. [image: Bug] KNOX-714
Remove Permissive MIT License from NOTICE File
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KNOX-714>
6. [image: Bug] KNOX-715
submitJava should allow multiple argument via arg()
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KNOX-715>
7. [image: Bug] KNOX-716
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KNOX-716>Parameter setting for
'replayBufferSize' is no longer representing KBytes.
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KNOX-716>
If there are any other issues that you feel need to be addressed please
raise this as a discussion point so that we can plan accordingly.
As we close down on this release, we should also start thinking about the
0.10.0 (perhaps a 1.0 candidate?) release and what would be required.
thanks,

+1 on a bug fix 0.9.1 release targeted around June 10th.
I agree that it should be tightly scoped and the current candidate list seems like a good starting point.
+1 on Larry as the release manager for 0.9.1 also.

Thanks for initiating the discussion Larry. +1 for you to be the release
manager and the date looks good to me as well. I agree that this should be
a bug fix release that is tightly scoped. I can¹t think of any other bugs
at this time that should be added to the list (other than some docs
updates that I¹ll file Jiras for), but if I find any candidates I¹ll reply
to this thread.
