View for Many sites

Hi all,
Jetspeed provide costimized view for user but if I want to build a portal
which can provide customization of my home page for all guest. For example I
have many sites
http://xxx.xxx.com.tr or http://yyy.xxx.com.tr and so on
and I want to define view for this site not only for me for everyone who
visits. Each site will have separate view.
Any suggestion?

Raphaël,
Yes its very helpfull
At other part we use mod_rewrite rule. we will try this method. Are there
any doc about profile. I find some docs about turbine user modification,
psml handling but nothing about jetspeed profile stages.
Maybe we will get psml files from ldap. So It will easy to configure and
distribute server. If we can set to profiler look for "/page/<sitename>"s
psml at the same file with <sitename> user's psml as you said It will be
clear job without writing code. (except ldap integration).

Ender
Merci beaucoup

You can call getProfile anywhere in your code. There are other entry points,
such as query( QueryLocator ), which returns a collection of profiles
matching your locator specification.

Jetspeed calls getProfile(rundata) from the JetspeedSessionValidator, which
is called by Turbine in the doGet() of the main Turbine servlet, see
http://jakarta.apache.org/turbine/turbine-2/fsd.html

AW: Simple Question ? Hope ! Entry Point for Page

Posted by Norman Schöneich <sc...@ecooperate.de>.
Ok,
i see that the JetspeedProfilerService parse the parameters in the
getProfile(RunData rundata, CapabilityMap cm) method.

But who calls this method and when ?

I thought, that the entry point is layout/default.vm, then the Screen,
normally Home.vm is called.
But in Home.vm getPane("default") is called, so JetspeedTool.getPane(String
name) is called with the default param,
inside there PortalToolkit.getSet(doc.getPortlets()).getContent(rundata) is
called -> the page is rendered,

or not ?

Normally i just call rundata.getProfile() to get the current profile, but
who and where this profile is set (i found it only
in JetspeedTool and JetspeedSessionValidator.

The profiler service does this parsing.
The service is set in the JRP:

services.Profiler.classname=org.apache.jetspeed.services.profiler.JetspeedPr
ofilerService

It then passes the parameters in a ProfileLocator to the PsmlManagerService
to retrieve the PSML file from either the file system or a database:

services.PsmlManager.classname=org.apache.jetspeed.services.psmlmanager.Cast
orPsmlManagerService
-or-
#services.PsmlManager.classname=org.apache.jetspeed.services.psmlmanager.db.

Hello,

which source code files are affected, if i call
jetspeed with an url that contains the /page/<pagename> or /user/<user> or
/role/<role> etc.

Is there an entry point for parsing these parameters ?

How is the workflow through src / vm files constructed, if a jetspeed url
like this is invoked.

I use current release 1.3a2.

thanks in advance !

To separate between sites, use /page/<pagename> rather than
/user/<pagename>, it'll work better because the user parameter will not
be propagated inside links whereas the page one will (or at least should,
I've not tested it recently).

It works
using /user/<username> works for initial page but at this page's links
doesnt contain any info about URI's parameter so when user click some link
get default page. I thing if a paramater comes from URI this parameter must
be added all links.

Re: View for Many sites

Posted by Ender Hikmet KILIÇOGLU <en...@kilicoglu.nom.tr>.
After looking at profiler and User classes we have some Idea about solution.
Thanks for all helpfull replies
We will try to pass some parameter with user anonymous something like
"sitename"=ender.x.com. So profiler will capture this value and fill user's
profile with ender's psml file. Also at portlet site using getData() and
getUser().getSitename() we will custumize site for ender's visitor. start
point is first enterence and here anonymous flag set. Where is it?
Ay Turbine site? I looked many source but couldnt find?
Also how can we persist data for ender's visitor to ender's data storage
area is an open issue.

Ender

Yes It's really related to psml but my suggestion is:
when the guest come to a site I will extract user info from address and
Assign it to the gues session but. I need to remove custimization or other
rigths. I thing it will be easy to to assign.
Also I dont know very well jetspeed's source tree I need someone to show the
rigth point to start. Like "profiler" ..

You can do this by implementing a custom profiler:
instead of querying a PSML document, the profiler would simply create
one dynamically in memory and store it in the session rundata object.

Again if you need to change the mapping behavior of Jetspeed to take
into account the hostname, you'll just need a profiler implementation
that takes this into account (ie read info from the Host HTTP request
header).

Ender,

It sounds like you are asking for the following enhancements:

1) Dynamic portlet creation, although I do not fully understand how the
the source or the URL or who (person or program) will create the
portlet. This is a common request.

2) Common <portlet-entry>. This would allows a <portlet-entry>
(portlets, controller, and controls) to be define and maintain in one
place, but "included" in a PSML. I have a need for this also.

I have not used this site. I do not understand the request.

Ender,
Sounds like a job for the WebPagePortlet. I currently have a portal
that displays a pages from 5+ sites, each page is one WebPagePortlet.
This portal provides a consistent way to view and navigate the content
provided by of each site. This is done by defining the a portlet for
each page on the site in a consistent way and then placing the portlets
in the portal.

  Portlet URL
  -------------- -----------
  site1_home http://site1/home
  site2_home http://site2/home
  site1_contact http://site1/about
  site2_contact http://site2/phone_list
  site1_status http://site1/app_status
  site2_status http://site2/status

In a tabbed portal page the tab "Status" will contain the portlets
site1_status and site2_status. The tab "Site 1" will contain the
portlets site1_home, site1_contact, and site1_status.
