[jira] [Commented] (SOLR-15932) Make max logfile size and number of files to keep configurable as sysprops

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-15932?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=17532250#comment-17532250 ]

Jan Høydahl commented on SOLR-15932:
------------------------------------

I think it is less intrusive if we keep {{solr.log}} as the current log file - lots of tools will rely on that. And then on a new day, roll it over and start a new solr.log. Should we ask log4j to gzip it too? {{solr-2022-05-04.log.gz}}

I can attempt to setup such a configuration, and make days-to-keep configurable.

> Today you have to edit log4j config file or create your own to tailor how much solr logs you want to retain. This Jira will make these two configurable as system properties.
