[~awasum] I'm personally very much in favour of maintainers just closing issues like this.

One thing we could do if you want to be more "careful" is to first label them (say with.. "appears-unactionable"), and then post "anyone got any objections??" to the developer mailing list, and give it some sort of "grace period" (2 weeks?).
