[DISCUSSION] release numbering

Hello All,

I would like to rename:
1) 5.0.0-M5 -> 5.0.0
2) 5.0.1 -> 5.1.0

current numbering seems to be confusing

Any objections?

Hello Peter,

I would like to introduce some changes :)))

micro version (i.e. 5.0.1) will be changed in case we need to perform
urgent release (i.e. released version contains critical issue)
minor version (i.e. 5.1.0) will be changed for maintenance release
major version (i.e. 6.0.0) will be changed in case something huge was
added/removed/changed. For example we can release 6.0.0 with SIP support

It seems to me most users reads 1-2 first numbers and ignore the rest ... :)

Hi Maxim,

I'm fine with 1 and have a question to 2.
What are the features that will be added that require that step?

As far as I understood it

5.0.x would be an maintenance update
5.x.0 would be a feature enhanced update e.g. mobile css included
and x.0.0 would be a kind of complete changes e.g flash to html5

Am I right so far?

Greetings Peter
