Re: [VOTE] Release HttpAsyncClient 4.1.2 based on RC1

Posted by Freeman Fang <fr...@gmail.com>.
I'm -1 for this release.

Because the httpasyncclient-osgi bundle Import-Package
org.apache.http.client.config with wrong version.

Added comment and attached the patch to HTTPASYNC-97[1] to fix it.

Thanks

BTW: the ASC, MD5, RAT, and Clirr were OK FWIW, it's just the test failure
that is the problem.

Just FYI, I also saw this test failure with

java version "1.8.0_66"
and
java version "1.7.0_72"
on mac, seems this is a platform specific issue.

I ran the tests on Win7 Enterprise at work and they all passed. There
must be something special about your local TCP/IP / DNS config.

I turned off my VPN in case that mattered, but it does not. This fails at
home with TimeWarner and now where I am on a public library WiFi.

Anything else I can test?

In case there are other systems with strange behaviour, maybe there
should be a test to check that the address is being handled as
expected by the OS?
If not, then log a warning and skip tests that depend on it.

That basically means that '0.0.0.0' address resolves to local host on
your system. This makes no sense.

Could you please change the request URL in the test from
"http://0.0.0.0/" to "http://0.0.0.0:000/" and try one more time?

Hi Oleg,

The latest from the 4.1.x branch gives me (mvn clean test):

testConnectionRequestFailure(org.apache.http.nio.client.integration.TestHttpAsyncPrematureTermination)

        at
org.apache.http.nio.client.integration.TestHttpAsyncPrematureTermination.testConnectionRequestFailure(TestHttpAsyncPrematureTermination.java:309)

Apache Maven 3.3.9 (bb52d8502b132ec0a5a3f4c09453c07478323dc5;
2015-11-10T08:41:47-08:00)
Maven home: E:\Java\apache-maven-3.3.9
Java version: 1.8.0_91, vendor: Oracle Corporation

OS name: "windows 7", version: "6.1", arch: "amd64", family: "dos"

If I add "e.printStackTrace();" before the failing JUnit assertion, I get:

That used to be the case with OpenDNS.

Unfortunately there still are some other DNS providers which
incorrectly return IP addresses for the .invalid TLD.
Such behaviour is not RFC-compliant.

Thanks, Gary

As bizarre as it may sound it looks like 'stuff.invalid' hostname does
resolve to a valid address on your system.

I tweaked the test case to use '0.0.0.0' instead of '.invalid' hostname
to simulate refused connection exception.

Could you please try building and running the tests of the latest
snapshot?

Gary

I relaxed the assert of exception type due to inconsistency in behavior
on different OS platforms.

Could you please run the latest SVN 4.1.x code [1] locally and let me
know if the test still fails for you?

Oracle JDK 1.8.0.60 as well as Windows 7 Enterprise JDK 1.7.0.55.

Hi Gary

Yes, thats my default JDK. I'm wondering if its due to something related
to Windows?

asankha@asankha-ENVY:~$ java -version
java version "1.7.0_75"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_75-b13)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.75-b04, mixed mode)
