SAX1 or SAX2?

What are the differences between these two versions?
What shall be the criteria to use a spcific version?

XPATH support with xerces while parsing an XML

Is there any XPATH support with xerces SAX APIs to
restrain the parser to read only a specific node /
elements in XML. If not is there any support with DOM
APIs.
Any other way I can apply filter for a specific node
only?
