New Release Candidate 4.0.0-rc1 Testers Needed

Hello Everyone,

4.0.0 release candidate 1 is now available at

https://people.apache.org/~sidney/devel

It can also be installed from CPAN using tools such as cpanm, e.g.

  cpanm SIDNEY/Mail-SpamAssassin-4.0.0-rc1-TRIAL.tar.gz

This rc fixes all previously open issues targeted for 4.0.0.

Please test and post success or failures as soon as possible.

The current draft of the release announcement/notes that has been
prepared for the 4.0.0 release can be viewed at

https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/spamassassin/trunk/build/announcements/4.0.0.txt

That file also contains the instructions for how to verify the hashes
and GPG signatures of the downloaded files.

The extensive document on upgrading from 3.4.x and new features is at
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/spamassassin/trunk/UPGRADE

Thanks Sidney,

We are running 4.0.0-rc1 with no problems so far.  Looks like a very
solid release candidate and we've been running 4.0.0 from trunk for a
LONG time too.

Others should feel very comfortable upgrading to it on a production
system.  Do we want to cross post to users to give them a heads-up and
opportunity to test?

Regards,

KAM
