[libcloud] [VOTE] Release apache libcloud 0.2.0

Test tarballs for Apache Libcloud 0.2.0 are available at:
   <http://people.apache.org/~pquerna/lc-0.2.0/>

Please test and place your votes please;

 +/- 1
 [ ] Release Apache Libcloud 0.2.0

Vote closes on Monday February 15, 2010 at 1pm PST.

Thanks,

Paul

----------------------------------------------------
Introduction to Voting on Releases:
- If at least 3x commiters for libcloud place 'binding' +1 votes to
release, the tarball gets officially released.
- Once released, it goes to the mirror network, linked form our
website, added to PyPi, etc
- If there aren't 3x +1s, the release fails, and is not distributed.
- To vote +1, you should consider both the legal issues of the
release, like do we have all the right licenses, and the technical
stability/features/bugs.
- More details about all of it are here:
<http://www.apache.org/foundation/voting.html>
- While we are in the Incubator, we also need the IPMC to vote on the release.

+1

Sorry I'm a bit late (my vote is non-binding anyway). I tried running
the candidate tarball with Terremark and it worked.

I also successfully verified the checksums and signature. Is it worth
putting a KEYS file in libcloud's subversion repository, perhaps at
the top level (https://svn.apache.org/viewvc/incubator/libcloud/KEYS)?

Cheers,
Tom

Nope, it'll have to go into the next release.

The 'fix' is just defining an extra variable in secrets.py-dist, and
while an annoying bug, I don't believe its a blocker for 0.2.0 to go
out.

Great. We also have the framework for API docs too:

http://ci.apache.org/projects/libcloud/apidocs/

Glad to see Voxel (mostly complete) support get squeezed in as well.
Although, I just downloaded the tarball and ran the tests:

AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'test_voxel'

I think the fix is in r908783, did that make it into your tarball?

http://ci.apache.org/waterfall?show=libcloud-trunk

Currently pyflakes doesn't like us, mostly because of how we import
the JSON parsers. I don't know of any easy solution to this.

Otherwise we are passing the test cases we do have, though as noted in
the 0.3.x goals mail, they are spotty at times.

Thanks,

Paul

Where is the buildbot? We are passing all of our test cases, right?

While the Voxel issue is a bit irritating, it's not the end of the
world.

Good nice first release. No blockers.

For the record, it gets my +1, with the known issue with the voxel test.

Thanks,

Paul

That sounds prudent, and mostly requires an svn pre-commit hook to enforce.

We don't really have a user-facing changelog at this time.

Most people using libcloud have been using git or SVN snapshots -- we
never have made an official release in any medium before this -- for
example the version in debian is a git snapshot from November.

0.2.0 will be our first release, and hopefully forms a good baseline
in the API to continue growing the project.

For all future release, I think we do need to start maintaining a
CHANGES file to note what has changed though!

Thanks,

Paul

Hey Paul,

Where can I read about the delta between 0.1.0 and 0.2.0?

Thanks,
Jeff
