javadoc deployment

Hello,

the javadoc plugin allows me to deploy the javadocs to the remote 
repository.
what is unclear to me is how to make use of it later... How does one 
retrieve the javadocs from the repository?
I tried to add a dependency of type javadoc to my project but that 
didn't do anything.
