[BUG]AOO in Asia Language word's counts calculate is wrong

I test the lastest version AOO, and noticed the problem.
This a old problem since past openoffice.org. I hope this problem can
be solved in new AOO.

Because this different mathod calculated between Asia Language word's
counts and Europe or Western.
In Europe or Western:
This is "4" words : "This is four words"

In Aisa (exemple China):
This is "10" words : "這是什麼?我不知道!"

the really method calculated is "這" "是" "什" "麼" "?" "我" "不" "知" "道" "!"

But OOo's method is "這是" "什麼?" "我" "不知道!" , so OOo will it calculate
is "4" words.
This have two wrong place:
1. For Asia Language, OOo's method calculated is "term or stetment
counts" (詞數) , not "word counts" (字數) .
2. For Asia Language, punctuation( ex "," "。" "、" or "," "." "-" "!"
"?" .... ) is "1" word, but OOo let them ignore.

So i hope AOO can modify and use another method in Asia Language Words.
Thanks.

That would be great, and thank you! ^_*' It doesn't make sense for
a same person to write a test case and the test result.

You can write the test result if you like. Or I can do it, I also tested
the word counts fucntion for Asian languages.

Currently for AOO 3.4, we are using Wiki pages to manage test cases and
test results:
Here is the QA main page:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/QA

>From this page, you can navigate to test cases page:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/QA/TestCases/

And place your test result here:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/QA/TestResults

Now dev snap shot build is used for testing, you can get the build here:
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/AOO+3.4+Unofficial+Developer+Snapshots

I see. But where do I build this test case? In the source tree?

No detail test case for AOO 3.4, all the test cases are wroten based on
component, feature and give some short description.

For this scenario, it is about Asian languages words count, the words count
feature is one feature of Writer, so you may add test case as below:
Component: Writer
Feature: Word Count
Test Case:
This is to test the word counts in Asian langauge. Launch Writer and input
some Asian languages words, select Tools->Word Count to verify if the
result is correct.

It's a great idea and I would like to, but how to write a testcase?
 Is there any guide?

OK, I marked
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=17964
as FIXED as discussed here, but please add a testcase to
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/QA/TestCases/
so that we can still test it works during QA tests.

   Andrea.

Test result is correctly, in Rev.1242287.
Maybe Bug 17964's status can be fixed.

I have commit a fix to this Asian (Chinese/Japanese/Korean) word
count (rev#1241345). Please check if this works for you. If this is
fixed, could someone change the status of bug#17964 (or tell me how to
change it?) Thank you. ^_*'

For the record, this seems to be
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=17964
It is said to be solved in Lotus Symphony and it is marked as a "Release
Blocker" for OpenOffice.org 3.4 (yes, for OpenOffice.org 3.4, not for
Apache OpenOffice 3.4; I'm not sure whether "Release Blockers" for
OpenOffice.org 3.4 apply to Apache OpenOffice 3.4 too).

Notice that I have to trust comments in the issue: I have no specific
knowledge regarding support for Asian languages, and thus I cannot be
100% sure that this is the same problem you describe. Scroll down the
comments since the issue initially had a different focus.

Regards,
  Andrea.
